SPMCIL operates multiple presses, mints, and paper mills across India to support the nation's secure printing and minting needs.

India Government Mint, Kolkata, established in 1829, is one of the oldest mints in India and operates under SPMCIL. It specializes in minting coins, medals, medallions, and refining precious metals. The mint also produces commemorative coins and offers coinage services for both national and international clients.

India Government Mint, Hyderabad, established in 1903, is a key unit of SPMCIL and plays a vital role in coin production in India. India Government Mint (IGM), Noida is one of the four mints under SPMCIL, responsible for producing coins and medallions for the Government of India. Established in 1988, it is equipped with modern machinery and technology for coin minting, blanking, and assaying.

BNP DEWAS

The Bank Note Press (BNP) Dewas is a unit of Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL). Established in 1974, it is responsible for printing Indian currency notes. BNP Dewas has a target to print 4,200 million notes in the 2023-24 financial year, including denominations like Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100, Rs 50, and Rs 20.

About SPMCIL

Welcome to the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), a wholly owned Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Category-I company of Government of India, incorporated on 13th January, 2006. SPMCIL, technically a new entity, has centuries-old experience in Security Printing and Minting. The management, control, maintenance and operations of the erstwhile 9 production units under Currency and Coinage division, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, was transferred to SPMCIL w.e.f. February 10, 2006. The Ministry of Finance exercises its administrative control over SPMCIL through Board of Directors.
SPMCIL is engaged in the manufacture/ production of Currency and Bank Notes, Security Paper, Non-Judicial Stamp Papers, Postal Stamps & Stationery, Travel Documents viz. Passport and Visa, Security certificates, Cheques, Bonds, Warrant, Special Certificates with security features, Security Inks, Circulation & Commemorative Coins, Medallions, Refining of Gold & Silver, and Assay of Precious Metals.

SPMCIL though a new entity is composed of units that have a rich & long history of handling the security printing & minting in the nation. 18th Century- Minting of coins started at Calcutta Mint. In 1790 modern machinery was brought from England and second Mint was established. Bronze, Silver and Gold coins were getting Minted from these mints. 1918- British sovereign were minted during 1918 as the Mint in Mumbai was declared as branch of Royal Mint of London.
